WESTFIELDS GAIN IMPRESSIVE AWAY WIN

Westfields recorded their 4th MFA league win last night when they beat Causeway United 1-0 at Stourbridge to end the Causeway 8 match unbeaten run.

Causeway, who won the August “Team of the Month” award with 8 consecutive wins, found Westfields a tough nut to crack and twice Phil Glover got in powerful headers and Daryl Addis shot over the bar in an action-packed first half.

After the break Darryl Addis had a shot brilliantly saved by Joel Skeldon in the Causeway goal but from Hibbard’s resultant corner kick the ball fell nicely to Phil Glover on the edge of the penalty area and he drilled the ball home for the match winner.

Jon Pugh then saved brilliantly with his legs when Stuart How was through on goal when an equaliser looked certain but Westfields finished strong with Glover forcing Skeldon in the home goal to another full length save.
