STUDENTS OUTCLASS WESTFIELDS AT LOUGHBOROUGH
Westfields football club were given a lesson by the Loughborough students as Loughborough University ran out comfortable 3-1 winners in the Midland Football League Premier Division which knocked Westfields off the top spot.
Loughborough proved to be a slick, well organised side and gave Westfields a lesson in finishing and quick moving.
Westfields never got started and also had to suffer with being reduced to ten men when right back Sam Gwynne was sent off on the hour for a tangle with Jerimiah Dasaolu.
Westfields found themselves a goal down in the 35 minute when Chris Eneremadu shot the students 1-0 ahead with a wonder goal from 20 yards when he cut in from the left hand side and beat Kieron Blackburn with an explosive shot.
Westfields had an opportunity to draw level just before the break when Craig Jones got free on the edge of the penalty area but his left foot shot went agonisingly past the post.
After the break Westfields were reduced to ten men when Gwynne was shown the red card and the students began to dictate play with some quick moving attacks and it came as no surprise when Joe Boachie headed the students 2-0 ahead from a right wing corner.
However, Westfields did raise their game and came back into it when Craig Jones took advantage of a hesitant defence to score with a lob shot to put Westfields back in the game but this was only short lived when Joe Boachie restored the students two goal advantage when he again broke clear and beat Kieron Blackburn to put Loughborough into a 3-1 lead.
The students played a quick passing game with excellent movement on their superb stadium pitch and ran out worthy winners over a disappointing Westfields side.
Westfields now visit league leaders, Ilkeston Town, on Saturday in a most attractive game which is poised to attract over 1,000 spectators at Ilkeston for this top-of the-table Total Motion Midland Football League Premier Division game.
