WESTFIELDS BEATEN AT QUORN
Westfields suffered a 2-1 away defeat at Quorn on Saturday when the Leicestershire hosts gained revenge for their 3-2 defeat at Westfields earlier in the season.
Westfields gave a disappointing first-half display and were 1-0 down at the break through a goal by Nathan Dale who tucked away a shot at the far post after Westfields had failed to clear a right wing corner.
Earlier, Keiron Blackburn had saved on 3 occasions to deny the home team the lead whilst at the other end Ben Miller had shot over the bar when well placed in what was Westfields’ best attack.
After the break Westfields drew level with a cracking goal from Craig Jones who tucked away a left foot shot from a tight angle to put the sides level and give Westfields some hope. However, again with Westfields pushing up, Quorn caught Westfields on the counter-attack and broke away and Callum Thompson scored again at the far post when he shot through a ruck of players to put Quorn 2-1 ahead.
Westfields then mounted good pressure on the Quorn goal in an effort to draw level and substitute Dan Polan had a shot well saved by Taylor MacMillan in the home goal and then the big Quorn keeper saved well from Nathan Hodge.
Westfields threw everything at Quorn in an effort to draw level and forced three corners in injury time, none of which could be converted as Phil Glover, Craig Jones and Hodge all saw efforts scrambled away as Westfields’ poor run of just 4 wins in the League in the last 12 games continued.
On Tuesday night Westfields travel to FA Vase giantkillers Sporting Khalsa and next Saturday face the long away trip to Heanor in Derbyshire before they return to allpay.park on Wednesday the 15th when they host Coventry United, kick-off 7.45pm, at allpay.park.
