WESTFIELDS SHARE SIX GOAL THRILLER WITH LEAGUE LEADERS
Westfields and visiting Bromsgrove Sporting dished up an absolute Midland Football League thriller last night when they shared 6 goals in a 3-3 draw at allpay.park in front of 202 supporters.
Bromsgrove went to the top of the league with their point and Westfields continued their improved form with a valuable point.
Westfields came back three times, having trailed Bromsgrove Sporting who took the lead in the 18th minute through Sean Brain who headed home from a left-wing corner when unchallenged in the 6 yard box.
Westfields however came back strongly and equalised on the stroke of half time when, from a Craig Jones corner, Matt Sysum was left unmarked at the far post and he thumped home a perfectly placed shot to put the 2 sides level at the interval.
After the break Cowley fired home for Bromsgrove when he evaded 3 tackles and shot low past Kieron Blackburn from 18 yards to put the visitors back in front. However, Westfields levelled the scores when Mark Magee was on the spot in a goal-mouth scramble to put Westfields level at 2-2.
In a ding-dong match which raced from end-to-end the visitors went 3-2 ahead as the result of a corner when Westfields failed to clear and Connor Deards put the visitors ahead 3-2 on the 78th minute.
In a grandstand finish Westfields threw men forward in an effort to salvage a point and it paid off in the 89th minute when skipper Phil Glover joined the attack and, from a left-wing cross by Ben Miller, Glover’s downward header found the corner of the net to earn Westfields a fantastic home point against the league leaders.
