FIELDS LOSE LEAD AS CONTINENTAL STAR SHINE
After losing a lead away to Coleshill the week before, Fields followed in similar fashion this afternoon as they lost a 1-0 lead to lose 2-3 to a hard working Continental Star side.
Westfields started the brightest of the two teams and within 4 minutes won themselves a Penalty, some hard fought work by Zac Sirrell saw him hacked down by Keeper O’Carro. Nathenial Lewars stepped up to take the Penalty before sending his weak effort straight into the keeper.
Garfield Robinson come closest for Continental Star in the first half as some quick feet on the edge of the box allowed him to find space before he sent a disappointing shot flying over Matt Gwynne’s bar.
Fields took the lead on 15 minutes after lively midfielder Craig Jones dispossessed the Centre Back before surging forward with the ball and before picking his spot and firing a left foot shot over the keeper.
Just before Half Time Continental Star Left Back Anton Caines-Powell attacked the left side at speed before cutting onto his weaker right foot and sending a shot harmlessly out for a goal kick.
HALF TIME: Westfields 1-0 Continental Star
Just after half time Continental Star equalised, some good play down the right hand side lead to the ball being floated into the Fields box where Muhammed Ndowi was on hand to nod the ball in from 3 yards out.
Within the space on two minutes, Star pulled in front when a dangerous free kick was met by Darren Green who managed to direct the ball into the top corner, leaving Gwynne routed to the ground.
Fields danger man Craig Jones produced a great save out of O’Carro as he sent a low driven left footed shot. Jones continued to be the main threat for Fields as he then sent a free kick just wide of the far right top corner.
Fields missed chances spurred Continental Star on as they pulled further in front. A long Ball over the top was magnificently trapped by the Den Johnson took his time before placing a shot under Matt Gwynne.
Fields scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute, but at this time it was too little, too late. A mad scramble in the box lead to the ball falling to the feet of Substitute Dan Polan who prodded home from 4 yards out.
For the second time in consecutive game Fields have managed to through away a lead.
