Westfields v Heath Hayes

MATCH REPORT - Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Westfields 2 - D.Addis, Hopkinson
Heath Hayes 2 - Allan, Waple

Westfields staged a dramatic second half recovery from being 2-0 down early in the second half to earn a draw with visiting Heath Hayes in a thrilling 2-2 draw in an incident packed encounter at allpay.park last night.

Westfields were a goal down in the 44th minute when keeper Jamie Moore fumbled a shot from Steve Allan into his own net to give the visitors the lead.

Westfields had, earlier in the first half, been reduced to 10 men when Phil Glover had been sent off when the Westfields’ defender had “stamped” on a Heath Hayes attacker in a mêlée.

Early in the second half David Waple side-footed home after Heath Hayes had cut open the Westfields’ defence.

More action to follow as Westfields were reduced to 9 men as Anthony Robbins was sent off for a 2nd yellow card and the uphill task continued.

Westfields’ manager, Sean Edwards, then sent on all 3 substitutes, Mark Hibbard, Arron Hopkinson and Jamie Cuss, and Daryl Addis pulled a goal back for the home side before super sub Arron Hopkinson grabbed a dramatic late equaliser with a fine solo goal.

Hopkinson and Craig Jones then both went close to gaining a late winner as Westfields’ 9 man team responded magnificently to gain a point which looked out of their reach earlier in the game.
