Westfields 4 - Thomas 52, Grant 56, De’ath o.g. 75,Polan 90
St Ives Town 0

Westfields marched on in the FA Cup with a superb 4-0 win over visiting St Ives Town from Huntingdonshire on Saturday.

Westfields followed on from their 4-3 win over Stourport and the 5-1 home win over Tividale to earn another tie in the FA Cup after totally outplaying the Southern League Premier Division team.

St Ives found Westfields wingers Sirdic Grant and Aidan Thomas in superb form and with Matt Gwynne recalled into the Westfields goal the home side gave a formidable performance.

After a cautious opening 45 minutes chances only fell to Richard Greaves and Jamie Molyneux but both were blocked by the St Ives keeper Tim Trebes, while at the other end Matt Gwynne produced a flying save with his legs when the St Ives Town striker was through on goal and Josh Dawkin seemed certain to score but Gwynne reacted brilliantly.

After the break the floodgates opened when Aidan Thomas put Westfields 1-0 up with a well-worked goal then in the 56th minute Trebes in the St Ives goal parried away a Thomas shot but Sirdic Grant raced in to fire home the Westfields second goal.  Jordan Jarrod, the St Ives full back who had been led a merry dance by Grant, was then sent off for “two yellow cards” after again upending the tricky Grant and then Westfields got a 3rd goal in the 78th minute when James Baldwin raced in from the right and his cross was deflected into his own net by skipper Charlie De’ath.

Westfields’ keeper Matt Gwynne then produced a flying save to deny St Ives a late consolation goal but in injury time Aidan Thomas produced a fine cross for Dan Polan to back-heel into the net to give Westfields an emphatic 4-0 home win over their illustrious Southern League Premier Division visitors.
