Westfields continued their record-breaking FA Cup Giant-Killing act on Saturday with an emphatic 4-0 home win over visiting Walton Casuals from Surrey when the Ryman Division One side became the 5th club this season to be beaten by Westfields in the impressive FA Cup run.

The game started with a one minute silence for former player John Eversham who played for Westfields in the ʼ70s/ʼ80s and then coached junior teams at Westfields and Hereford Lads Club.

Westfields overcame an early surge from Walton Casuals who had the ball in the net early on only to be ruled off-side but after that initial period Westfields settled down and Aidan Thomas flashed a shot wide of the far post and Jamie Molyneux fired over as did Sirdic Grant before Westfields took the lead.

The goal was a well-worked affair when Aidan Thomas did well on the left flank to get free and put over a low cross into the Walton goalmouth and Richard Greaves raced onto it to stab the ball home from close-range in the 23rd minute.

Westfields then almost added to the lead before half time but a Molyneux shot went over the bar.

After the break Westfields scored within two minutes of the re-start when a Craig Jones free kick found Phil Glover at the far post and his header came back off the cross bar and Richard Greaves reacted quickly to put Westfields 2-0 ahead.

Matt Gwynne made a flying save then to keep Westfields in the game, then in the 63rd minute Westfields went 3-0 from the penalty spot after Phil Glover had been pulled down and Craig Jones made no mistake to put Westfields 3-0 ahead.

With Grant causing problems on the wing and Ben Miller with fresh legs on the left flank in place of Aidan Thomas, Westfields put the issue beyond doubt when Richard Greaves deservedly got his hat-trick when he seized on an opportunity after a Jamie Molyneux pile-driver had been parried by the visitor’s keeper.

Westfields dictated play and Sirdic Grant hit the crossbar with a delightful chip shot as Westfields completely dominated the Casuals side who were very disappointed with their run coming to an end in the FA Cup.
