Stourport Swifts v Westfields

MATCH REPORT - Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Stourport Swifts 2 - Cooke
Westfields 1 - J.Addis

TWO PENALTIES AID STOURPORT

Westfields travelled to Zamaretto League club Stourport Swifts last night and were pipped 2-1 in a fast-flowing pre-season friendly when the Westfields’ team fell to 2 second half penalties.

Westfields had enjoyed the better of the first half when Jamie Addis headed home a Carl Morgan cross to put Westfields ahead.  Anthony Robbins then had a cracking 25 yard shot brilliantly saved by Paul Evans in the home goal while at the other end Jamie Moore in the Westfields’ goal produced 2 full length saves to deny Stourport an equaliser.

After the break Stourport drew level when Scott Jackson brought down Julian Triana and Steve Cooke put Stourport level from the penalty spot.

The home side then went ahead again from the penalty spot when Phil Glover brought down Ed Flory and Cooke again tucked away the penalty to put Stourport ahead.

Westfields had a great chance to draw level when Mark Hibbard caused home keeper Evans to make a hash of a clearance but Darren Andrews followed up only to see his shot hit the Stourport post and deny Westfields a deserved equaliser from a hard-working display.
