Man of the Match: Rhys Bennett
Cinderford town 2 - Leeson, Watts
Westfields 1 - Jennings
Westfields fell to their second 2-1 defeat to Cinderford Town when The Forresters followed up Tuesdays Hellenic League win at allpay.park by winning the return game at Cinderford by the same narrow score line.
Westfields deserved a point in each of the two games from a hardworking display but were punished by clinical finishing by Cinderford who completed a Hellenic League Double over a Westfields side with just one league win in the last 12 outings.
There was nothing between the two sides in the opening half an hour but Cinderford snatched the lead shortly before half time when a right wing cross was not cleared the Westfields defence and Harry Leeson was on the spot to score from close range.
Westfields had earlier had a great chance to open the lead but Mo Djalo blasted the ball over the bar when through on goal as Cinderford went in at half time 1-0 ahead.
After the break Westfields began to get back at Cinderford and Archie Muirhead and Djalo put the home side under pressure.
At the other end Ryan Smallwood in the Westfields goal twice saved well from Jack Watts and Leeson before Westfields drew level in the 84th minute when former Westfields defence Ben Vine brought done Archie Muirhead outside the penalty area and Brandon Jennings fierce free kick was deflected past the keeper by Sam Hunt for a deserved Westfields equaliser.
However, Westfields could not hold on to the point at 1-1 when a long clearance was chased by Jack Watts who beat George Clark in a race for the ball and prolific goalscorer Watts beat Ryan Smallwood with a class finish to put Cinderford Town 2-1 ahead with just 5 minutes left to play.
Westfields then mounted late pressure on the Cinderford goal but the Foresters stood firm to complete a narrow win and a Hellenic League Double.
