Westfields bounced back to form with an impressive 4-2 away win at high flying Corsham Town on Saturday.
After their last Hellenic League match ended in defeat at home to rivals Hereford Pegasus, Westfields travelled to Wiltshire to bring home the 3 points with a non stop team performance and finished with a convincing 4-2 away win.
Westfields opened up well with Bailey Fuller twice going close then Aidan Clark had an effort saved by the the Corsham Town keeper before Westfields took the lead on the half hour with a well worked goal when winger Fuller produced a dazzling run and found Aidan Clark who took the chance well with a shot just inside the post to give Westfields a 1-0 interval lead.
After the break Corsham Town came back strong and Jack Oxenham in the Westfields goal made 2 brilliant saves before Westfields went 2-0 ahead on the hour when teenager Lewis Rose scored from an acute angle.
Corsham hit back and pulled a goal back through Ralph Oppong who fired through a ruck of players to bring the home side back into the game.
Westfields then restored their 2 goal advantage when Zac Powell scored a fine opportunist goal, but in a ding dong battle Corsham scored an 88th minute goal through Lewis Gilchrist to set up a tense few minutes but Westfields made the points safe in the dying minutes when substitute Luke Postle was brought down in the penalty area and striker Aidan Clark scored from the resultant penalty to give Westfields an impressive 4-2 away win and move them up to 7th in the league table.
Next Saturday Westfields are on the road again when they visit Fairford Town in a Hellenic League Premier Division game .
