Devizes Town vs Westfields (2026-09-26)

Westfields traveled to Devizes Town on Saturday and came away with a 2-1 defeat to extend their poor form to just 2 league wins in their last 7 league games.

Westfields started well and in the first half had created several good chances but only had one goal to show for some impressive football.

Westfields started well and looked good in the first half hour and Bailey Fuller and James Baldwin both had opportunities to open the scoring before fullback Sean Cooke raced through to open the scoring for Westfields with a lovely low drive in the 26th minute.

Westfields continued to dominate and Jamie Clarke headed over the bar then Bailey Fuller shot wide when well placed.

Then right on the half time whistle Devizes Town drew level when Westfields failed to clear a throw in and Finlay Hopkins pounced on the opportunity to riffle home a 20 yard shot into the Roof of the Westfields net to equalise on the stroke of half time.

After the Break Devizes Town began to take the initiative and twice Matt Gwynne in the Westfields goal made brave point blank saves ,while at the other end Bailey Fuller shot agonisingly wide.

Devizes then edged in front after Westfields keeper Gwynne had saved well Liam Curtis was on hand to slam home from close range to put the Wiltshire side 2-1 ahead.

Westfields then had a great chance to draw level but substitute Jamie Ashmore shot high over the Devizes bar when an equaliser seemed certain.

Westfields pushed for an equaliser but Jamie Clarke headed wide and Fuller had a half chance but the Devizes keeper saved easily.

In the end Devizes dealt well with Westfields disappointing second half attacks and ran out 2-1 winners in a game that saw Westfields fall to their 3rd consecutive league defeat .
