Mangotsfield United: Harlee Vozza, Owen Pritchard, Mohamed Djalo, Ricardo Thompson
Westfields: Dan Cottrill
Man of the Match: Matt Gwynne
Westfields suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat away at an impressive Mangotsfield United on Saturday to end their unbeaten 4 match league run in the Hellenic Premier Division.
It was the first time this season that an Hellenic League side had got the better of them but Mangotsfield really gave an impressive second half performance to run out convincing 4-1 winners and had it not been for the agility of keeper Matt Gwynne Westfields could have suffered a much heavier away defeat.
Mangotsfield looked sharp from the start and Gwynne made an early save before the Bristol side took a 17th minute lead through Harley Vozza who side footed past Gwynne to put Mangoes ahead.
Westfields came back well and got the equaliser when Chris Gregan laid on a chance for Dan Cottrill to slot home the equaliser from 6 yards to send the sides in 1-1 at the break.
After the interval Mangotsfield caught Westfields on the break with two quick goals in the 66th and 70th minutes when Owen Pritchard then Mohamed Djalo scored from sweet flowing moves to give the Bristol side a 3-1 lead and leave Westfields an up hill task.
Danny Janes the Westfields manager sent on 3 substitutes in an effort to inject more fire power but had keeper Gwynne to thank as he produced 2 brilliant point blank saves to deny Mangoes further goals before Mangotsfield substitute Ricardo Thompson rounded Westfields keeper Matt Gwynne to add a 4th goal in the dying minutes and leave Westfields with their first league defeat of the season with a heavy 4-1 defeat against an impressive Mangotsfield United side.
Westfields now meet Hereford Pegasus on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon Kick off 3pm at allpay.park for the Local Derby with their league rivals.
