Westfields gained their first Hellenic League double of the season when they won 1-0 away At Pershore Town on Saturday to follow up their 3-1 home win on the opening day of the season.

Westfields had to with stand tremendous pressure from Pershore in the second half but Cameron Davies marshalled the Westfields defence superbly.

In the first half Westfields enjoyed better periods of play although it took an acrobatic save by Shay Sterry in the Westfields goal to tip over a cracking drive from the Pershore striker before Westfields responded and Aidan Clark had a low shot well saved by Joe Cunneen in the home goal.

Westfields then took the lead when Sirdic Grant put over a cross and the ball was only partially cleared by the Pershore defence and it fell nicely for Cam Davies who rifled the ball home to put Westfields ahead.

Westfields almost increased their lead before the half time whistle when Luke Williams hit a blistering 20 yard shot but it cannoned off the Pershore Crossbar as Westfields went in at the break 1-0 ahead.

The second half saw Pershore go all out for an equaliser and Luke Postle got it a couple of timely tackles to prevent crosses coming into the Westfields penalty area.

Westfields counter attacked and Bailey Fuller hit the base of the Pershore post with a left foot drive.

Pershore twice had direct free kicks awarded just outside the penalty area but these were wasted with shots that cleared the Westfields cross bar.

Pershore mounted a wave of attacks and hit
the Westfields bar with a long range effort then Westfields central defender Pat Wood made a last ditch tackle to prevent a certain Pershore opportunity as Westfields battled superbly to keep the Pershore attack at bay.

Westfields deserved their win for a hard working battling performance and taking their first half chance to gain a League Double over Pershore Town .
