Man of the Match: Luke Williams
Slimbridge 3 - Smith 2, Blacker
Westfields 4 - Postle, Powell, Fuller, Clark
Westfields travelled to unbeaten Slimbridge last night and ended their unbeaten run in the Hellenic League Premier Division with a fine 4-3 victory after leading comfortably 4-1 with 15 minutes to play.
Westfields gave a hardworking non stop display and took a 7th minute lead when on loan winger Luke Postle from Halesowen Town was in the six yard box to tuck away a Bailey Fuller cross.
Ten minutes later Westfields doubled the score when Aidan Clark had a shot cleared and the ball fell invitingly to Zac Powell who slotted the ball home low into the corner of the Slimbridge net to put Westfields 2-0 ahead.
Just before the break Slimbridge pulled a goal back through Jack Smith.
After the break Westfields pace again put The Swans under pressure and early in the second half Bailey Fuller chased a through ball and cooly beat the advancing home keeper to put Westfields 3-1 ahead in the 55th minute.
Westfields striker Aidan Clark was having a fine game leading the Westfields attack and he increased the Westfields lead when he cut inside and beat the Slimbridge keeper with a low drive with 75 minutes on the clock to put Westfields into a 4-1 lead.
Manager Dan Moon then introduced 3 Westfields substitutes and then Westfields were reduced to 10 men when skipper Harrison Iddles was sent off for a second yellow card.
With Westfields fully stretched unbeaten Slimbridge came back into the game and Jack Smith got a second goal to set up a frantic final 10 minutes when Slimbridge threw everything at Westfields and scored a third goal.
Slimbridge mounted pressure and forced 3 late corners and Jack Oxenham in the Westfields goal made a point blank save to deny the Swans a late equaliser as Westfields defended superbly to inflict the first league defeat on Slimbridge with a fine 4-3 away win to take them up to 4th place in the league table.
This Saturday Westfields return to allpay.park when Cribbs are the visitors kick off 3pm
