Man of the Match: Pat Wood
Slimbridge 4 - Shutt, Soule, Barnes, Rodgers
Westfields 0
Westfields travelled to high flying Slimbridge for a 4th Round Hellenic League Cup Tie and were well beaten 4-0 by a rampant Slimbridge side who dominated the Cup tie once Westfields had central defender Cam Davies sent off in the 6th minute for hand ball on the Westfields goal line.
Westfields debutant keeper Toby Phipps-Booy then brilliantly saved the Slimbridge penalty, but five minutes later Joe Shutt redeemed himself for seeing his spot kick saved earlier by putting Slimbridge ahead after Phipps - Booy had spilled a shot.
The 10 man Westfields team were up against a quick moving home side and Toby Soule put Slimbridge further ahead after Westfields failed to deal with a through ball and he had an easy task from close range.
Then Westfields had a brief spell when Steve Sarkodie in the Slimbridge goal saved well from Ben Hayes and then Zac Powell.
Just before the interval Slimbridge made it 3-0 when former Westfields striker Ollie Barnes latched onto a pass and scored through a crowded defence.
After the break Westfields worked hard in defence to keep Slimbridge at Bay and Pat Wood and Dan Bufton both did well in dealing with the Slimbridge attack.
It looked as though Westfields would keep the second half goalless when late in the game Slimbridge substitute Jacob Rodger’s pounced on a right wing cross to put the cup tie to bed with a 4th goal as the 10 man Westfields team were well beaten.
