Treowen Stars vs Westfields (2026-07-11)

A new look Westfields team under new manager Danny Janes and assistant Mark Hibbard gave a hard working display in sweltering conditions at unbeaten Welsh League Division one south team Treowen Stars, who came back from being 2-1 down at the break to win 3-2 with 2 late second half goals.

Midfielder Nathan Davies had put Westfields 1-0 ahead with a long range shot before the Welsh side drew level.

Westfields then went ahead just before the interval when Jax Hundt headed Westfields into a half time lead when he got on the end of a Yuri Quintas cross.

After the break Matt Gwynne excelled with a number of point blank saves before Treowen pulled level when they seized on a poor Westfields clearence and the home striker beat Gwynne with a low shot after Gwynne had brilliantly saved the strikers initial shot.

Both sides went close to scoring a winner and James Baldwin had a couple of good efforts on goal for Westfields before the Treowen side preserved their unbeaten run of pre season friendlies with a late winner to record a 3-2 win over a new look Westfields squad, manager Danny Janes used a 19 man squad well in the hot conditions.
