Man of the Match: Aidan Clark
Westfields 3 - Fuller, Clarke, Rose
AFC Worcester 2 - Holliday, Lane
Westfields went through to the next round of the HFA County Senior Challenge Cup
with a 3-2 home win over AFC Worcester at allpay.park.
Westfields had to work hard for their Cup win over a hard working AFC Worcester side that led 2-1 after 38 minutes but Westfields hit back in the second half to progress in the competition.
Westfields took an early lead when Aidan Clark burst into the Worcester half and beat 2 defenders only to see his shot hit the post and the rebound fell nicely for Bailey Fuller who beat the visitors keeper with a well placed finish.
Westfields lead was short lived when Westfields full back Ollie Bradley played a back pass to Keeper Shay Sterry which was intercepted by Fitz Holliday and the Westfields keeper was penalised by the referee for bringing down Holliday and Holliday put Worcester level from the penalty.
Worcester then enjoyed a good period of play and took the lead in the 38th minute when
Owen Lane flicked a right wing corner past Shay Sterry to give AFC Worcester the lead.
Westfields then mounted good pressure and just before the half time whistle Westfields drew level when man of match Aidan Clark raced past two AFC Worcester defenders before unleashing a fine right foot drive into the bottom corner of the net for the Westfields equaliser.
In second half Westfields dominated long periods of play and manager Dan Moon sent on substitutes Harrison Iddles and Lewis Rose and the two combined well when Iddles put Rose through on goal and the teenager finished in style to put Westfields 3-2 ahead in the 78th minute.
Westfields worked hard to retain the lead and Zac Powell fired over the Worcester cross bar and Bailey Fuller fired into the side netting as Westfields nearly added to their score over a hard working AFC Worcester side.
Westfields return to League action on Saturday with a trip to Bristol to face Hallen FC.
