Westfields brought the curtain down on their Hellenic League Premier Division season with a disappointing 3-0 home defeat against visiting Cirencester Town who completed a league double over a Westfields side who had goalkeeper Ryan Smallwood to thank for keeping the score line respectable with a man of the match performance at allpay.park.
Cirencester who are in the play offs were a quick skilful outfit who gave a 5 star performance.
Westfields were dealt a blow in only the second minute when Dan Bufton was involved in a clash of heads in challenging for a ball and was taken to hospital immediately to be replaced by Ari-Jae Shaw.
Westfields had to work overtime to keep Cirencester at bay and on half an hour George Clark was penalised in bringing down Ieuan Bailey but from the resulting penalty kick Ryan Smallwood in the Westfields goal produced a brilliant save to keep the score line blank.
Westfields then conceded 2 goals just before half time when Harlie Price then George Peace got on the end of crosses to put the visitors 2-0 up at the break.
After the interval Ryan Smallwood twice made brilliant saves to prevent Cirencester Town increasing their lead.
Westfields had a couple of half chance to pull a goal back but the visitors defence were strong and gave little away.
Cirencester increased their lead in the 68th minute when danger man Harlie Price cracked home a fine goal from just inside the penalty area to put the visitors into a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Westfields Manager Dan Moon sent on his 4 remaining substitutes to add fresh legs but Cirencester stood firm and finished strong as they go forward into next weeks Playoffs for a promotion place to the Southern League.
