Championship chasing Corsham Town got revenge over Westfields on Saturday when the Wiltshire visitors pipped Westfields 2-1 in a well fought Hellenic League Premier Division game at allpay.park.

Westfields had beaten Corsham 4-2 away earlier in the season and it looked as though
another win was on the cards when leading goalscorer Aidan Clark put Westfields ahead in only the 4th minute after he seized on a blocked shot from Zac Powell.

Corsham came back strong and Shay Sterry made a brilliant diving full length save in the Westfields goal then the young Westfields keeper dived bravely at the feet of Neikell Plummer to avert another Corsham attack.

Corsham eventually drew level when Jake Wilson powerfully headed home a right wing corner to put the sides level at the break.

After the interval Corsham began to get on top with their quick moving attack and Ashton Arlow twice fired wide when well placed.

In an end to end game Ben Hayes headed wide when the Westfields new signing should have opened his account.

Corsham got the break through in the 75 minute when Arlow hit a low shot into the bottom corner after Westfields had not cleared a right wing cross.

Westfields then introduced their substitutes in an effort to draw level but the big strong Corsham defence remained strong and defended well to gain a vital win to keep them in a play off position going into the second half of the season .
