Man of the Match: Connor Davies-Austin
Westfields 0
Fairford Town 2 - Mace, Edwards
Westfields fell to their 6th consecutive league defeat in the Hellenic League Premier Division when in form Fairford Town gained a 2-0 win over a hardworking Westfields side that enjoyed long periods of play but did not capitalise on their good approach work. Fairford gained revenge for the 2-0 away win that Westfields secured earlier in the season.
Westfields could have taken something from the game had they taken their half chances in a goalless first half.
Westfields saw Zac Powell and Jamie Clarke go close while Westfields defended well to keep the Fairford attack at bay.
After the break Fairford broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when former Worcester City skipper Adam Mace raced forward and unleashed a tremendous left foot shoot that flew into the top corner giving Ryan Smallwood no chance.
Westfields came back and Zac Powell rattled the crossbar with a free kick with the Fairford keeper well beaten.
Fairford Town then increased their lead in the 65th minute when a misplaced pass out of defence found Fairfords Harrison Edwards and he raced forward to beat Smallwood in the Westfields goal with a low shot to put the visitors 2-0 ahead.
Westfields hit back and Jamie Clarke had a far post header brilliantly saved by the Fairford keeper then Westfields substitute Simon Prangley shot wide from six yards out.
Westfields threw men forward and tried to force a goal but the big strong Fairford team stood firm as Westfields dismal run continued.
Next Saturday Westfields travel to Tuffley Rovers kick off 3pm for another league game
