Westfields recorded a fine home win over visiting Hallen in the Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday when Westfields ended a barren spell without a league win to end Hallen unbeaten 9 match run.
Westfields extended their unbeaten run to 3 games following 2 league draws and upset the FA Vase Semi Finalists with the best Westfields performance of the season. Manager Dan Moon recalled Arwyn Walby to midfield and brought in teenagers Josh Burton and Jack Edwards and the 3 teenagers gave inspirational performances to inspire a Westfields win.
The Bristol based visitors started brightly and Ryan Smallwood twice made great saves to deny leading goalscorer Harrison Fairman.
Westfields gradually got into their stride with some good approach play and snatched the lead in the 38th minute when youngster Jack Edwards turned smartly in the penalty area area and fired low past the Hallen keeper to give Westfields the lead.
Westfields defended well when Hallen hit back and George Clarke twice got in important tackles to ensure Westfields defended well and went in 1-0 ahead at the break.
After the interval Smallwood in the Westfields goal punched clear danger crosses before Westfields increased their lead when on the hour Davies saw a fierce shot pushed away by the Hallen keeper and the ball fell nicely for Finn Waller who crashed the ball into the net from close range to give Westfields a 2-0 lead.
Hallen kept in the game and were keen to preserve their impressive league run but they found Man of the Match Cam Davies in top form at the heart of the Westfields defence.
Westfields made the points safe from a hardworking performance when in the 90th minute substitute Archie Muirhead was sent tumbling in the penalty area and from the resulting penalty Cam Davies made no mistake to give Westfields a resounding 3-0 home win at allpay.park and 3 welcome league points.
