Westfields vs Highworth Town (2026-09-05)

Westfields suffered an embarrassing 6-0 home defeat in the Hellenic League Premier Division when visiting Highworth Town recorded their first win of the season at allpay.park to knock Westfields off the top of the league table.

Westfields contributed to their downfall by having two key players sent off in the opening 20 minutes which left them an uphill struggle and for the second consecutive Saturday and a game pointless.

After the previous Saturdays 4-1 defeat at Mangotsfield Westfields were keen to bounce back against Highworth Town who had yet to record a league win but Westfields started slowly and were soon in trouble when in only the 10th minute Mike McGrath was caught in possession in his own penalty area and he was forced to bring down the Highworth striker and conceded a penalty and also received a red card.

Highworth duly went ahead from the penalty spot when Bailey Gallagher put the visitors ahead from the spot.

Ten minutes later Westfields had another player sent off when Dan Cottrill was red carded after receiving a 2nd yellow card for a foul on the visitors keeper.

With only 9 men Westfields had a difficult task and Dan Grieve volleyed home a second goal then right on half time Highworth Town gave themselves a Hugh lift when Kyle Pitts riffled in a great finish to put Highworth into a 3-0 interval lead lead.

After the break Highworth scored in their first attack when Dan Grieve extended the visitors lead and put Westfields in a difficult position chasing a lost cause with just 9 men.

Dan Grieve deserved to make it 5-0 and to completed his hat trick midway through the half as the visitors began to open up the Westfields defence and it came as no surprise when Bonsa Teshome scored a 6th to give themselves  an unsaleable lead and leave Westfields with a heavy defeat for the second consecutive Saturday in the Hellenic Premier Division.
