Westfields were beaten for the second successive Saturday by a Welsh League Division One side when Llantwitt Major scored a 2-1 win over a new look Westfields side who displayed good approach work but lacked the killer instinct in front of goal.
In sweltering conditions the Welsh side took an early lead when Westfields fullback George Clark was penalised for a foul just outside the penalty area and Llantwitt Major took a quick free kick which saw Chris Evans head home powerfully from 6 yards.
Westfields had one or two chances to level the scores but could not beat the visitors defence until Dan Cottrill put Westfields level with header from a left wing corner as the sides went in all square at 1-1 at the interval.
After the break Westfields should have taken the lead when Jax Hundt was played in nicely by Reiss Taylor-Randall but the youngster shot wide.
Westfields were playing some nice football through midfield but could not break down the Llantwitt Major defence and midway through the second half Llantwitt Major caught Westfields on the counter attack when Josh Jones chased a through ball and beat Matt Gwynne with a low shot to put the Welsh visitors 2-1 ahead.
Westfields came back well and forced a series of corners and free kicks all of which were well dealt with by the Llantwitt Major defenders as Westfields fell to a 2-1 defeat
This week Westfields are home Alcester Town on Tuesday 7-45pm and Saturday meet old Midland Alliance Rivals Lye Town 3pm both at allpay.park.
