Westfields vs Nuneaton Town (2026-08-08)

Westfields crashed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle when they were well beaten by visiting Nuneaton Town 5-2 at allpay.park.

Westfields fresh from 2 Hellenic league wins were looking to cause an upset over their higher graded opponents but Westfields handed the visitors a 2 goal lead before they rallied to hit back and force 2 goals to put them level at the break.

Westfields handed Nuneaton Town a gift start when Dan Cottrill misplaced a pass just outside the the penalty area and Eesa Sawyers riffled in a shot past Matt Gwynne then 5 minutes later later Gwynne and Mike McGrath got into mess with a through ball and Brad Stretton nipped in to put the visitors into a gift 2-0 lead.

However Westfields came back at Nuneaton and Dan Cottrill pulled a goal back for Westfields then  Westfields pulled level when Tyrese Sibanda laid on a great chance for James Baldwin to shoot Westfields level with a great finish before the break.

After the interval Nuneaton showed their class when they  began to open up the Westfields defence and Terry Atem fired them back in front with a neat finish and in the 53rd minute Nuneaton went 4-2 ahead with a shot from James Armson which beat Gwynne to leave Westfields with an uphill task.

Westfields manager Danny Janes sent on 3 substitutes in an attempt to save the game but Nuneaton scored a 5th goal to put the issue beyond doubt when Brad Stretton got his second of the match to give Nuneaton a
5-2 advantage.

Westfields kept working hard and  Will Dallaway and Yuri Quintas both caused Nuneaton a few anxious moments but Westfields could not break down a well organised and hard working Nuneaton side.
