Westfields made a positive start to the new season with a convincing 3-1 home win over visiting Pershore Town last night at allpay.park in front of 229 spectators.
Dan Moons team looked good and took an early lead with an opening goal after just 6 minutes when Adam Saunston put Westfields ahead with a cleaver opening goal into the roof of the Pershore Town goal.
Westfields doubled their tally when in the 15th minute Archie Muirhead was brought down in full flight in the Pershore box and Bailey Fuller put Westfields ahead 2-0 ahead from the resulting penalty.
Pershore tried hard to get back in the game but Westfields defence stood firm to go in at the break 2-0 ahead.
After the interval Westfields maintained their pressure and increased their lead when Cam Davies headed home a Mason Godsall free kick to put Westfields into a 3-0 lead with 52 minutes on the clock.
Pershore Town came back into the game and Jack Oxenham made a brilliant double save in the Westfields goal to deny the visitors a goal then the young Westfields keeper produced a full length save at the foot of the post as Pershore came back strong.
The visitors then grabbed a late consolation goal when Ewan Clark scored from close range in the dying minutes in an entertaining match in which Westfields took the 3 points with a fine 3-1 home win.
Westfields now meet Atherstone Town at allpay.park on Saturday in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup kick off 3pm
