Man of the Match: Harrison Iddles
Westfields 0
Roman Glass St George 2 - Boorman, Hartley
Westfields were beaten on Saturday 2-0 at allpay.park by Hellenic League Premier Division leaders Roman Glass St George, when the visitors capitalised on Westfields being reduced to 10 men in the second half when central defender Cam Davies was given a straight red card for bringing down the visitors striker with only 2 minutes on the clock in the second half.
In the first half Westfields had enjoyed good periods of play but Lewis Rose, Aidan Clark and Zac Powell all finished weakly when put in good positions.
Roman Glass had hit the Westfields bar midway through the first half but they were denied an interval lead when just before the break former Westfields winger Dan Stoneman got free but his low drive was well saved by Jack Oxenham in the Westfields goal.
Immediately after the break Westfields were reduced to 10 men when Cam Davies was red carded when he brought down the visitors striker as he went clean through.
Westfields then faced an up hill task but were given a great chance to open the scoring when striker Aidan Clark found himself with time in front of the Roman Glass goal but he wasted the chance by lobbing the ball over the visitors crossbar.
The missed proved costly as Roman Glass opened the scoring with a well worked goal
when Charlie Boorman finished off the move with a cracking finish from just inside the penalty area.
Five minutes later Westfields defender Kane Khaki tried to play a square ball out of defence and this was intercepted and Connor Hartley siezed on the chance to put Roman Glass 2-0 ahead .
Westfields were faced with a huge task with only 10 men against the league leaders who ran out comfortable winners to extend their lead at the top of the table .
Westfields are at home again on Saturday to Tuffley Rovers kick off 3pm at allpay.park
