Westfields were led to an exciting 3-2 home win in the Hellenic league Wiseman Cup 3rd Round tie against visiting Slimbridge by striker Zac Powell who converted 2 penalties and hit a superb free kick to lead Westfields to an impressive cup win over in form Slimbridge at allpay .park.

Westfields had to battle back after going behind to a Ibby Olateju header in the 10th minute then the visitors almost increased their lead but a goal line clearance by Cam Davies saved Westfields.

Jack Oxenham in the Westfields goal then produced 2 excellent saves to keep Westfields in the game as Slimbridge dominated the opening 30 minutes.

Westfields best chance fell to leading goal scorer Aidan Clark who got through on goal but Slimbridge keeper Steve Sarkodie made a brilliant reaction save.

Westfields eventually drew level on the stroke of half time when Zac Powell put Westfields level from the penalty spot after a visiting defender was penalised for a foul from a Westfields corner kick by pushing Cam Davies.

After the Interval Westfields took the lead in the 50th minute when they forced a direct free kick just outside the penalty area and Zac Powell beat Sarkodie with a fine free kick into the bottom corner of the net.

Westfields then enjoyed their best spell in the game as Sarkodie saved well from Lewis Rose, before Westfields increased their lead when former Westfields keeper Steve Sarkodie brought down Aidan Clark as the Westfields striker came through on goal.

Zac Powell again stood up to take the penalty to send Sarkodie the wrong way to put Westfields 3-1 ahead.

Slimbridge came storming back into the game and reduced the Westfields  lead when Toby Soule out jumped the Westfields defence to score with a powerful header.

In an end to end game both sides had chances to score and Slimbridge put a last minute free kick over the Westfields cross bar.

Westfields defended well to maintain their lead and went through to the 4th Round of the Floodlit Cup with an exciting hard working display and a 3-2 home win.
