Westfields suffered a 3-0 home defeat against Visiting Slimbridge when the visitors gained full revenge after Westfields had knocked them out of the Wiseman Floodlit Cup last week.

Westfields had also beaten Slimbridge 4-3 away earlier in the season but a quick raiding Slimbridge side were well prepared for this league encounter and were good value for their 3-0 win over a non stop working Westfields side who when they did get through on goal found former Westfields keeper Steve Sarkodie in top form.

Westfields opened up well and twice Aidan Clark got free of the Slimbridge defence but he delayed his shot and the danger was averted.

Slimbridge opened the scoring when Alex Bell riffled home after twice Westfields keeper Shay Sterry had saved well.

Slimbridge went into the interval 1-0 ahead then within 2 minutes of the restart they doubled their lead when Toby Soule headed them into a comfortable lead.

Westfields came back into the game and Steve Sarkodie in the Slimbridge goal twice made point blank saves from Zac Powell to keep out Westfields.

Slimbridge made the points safe when Jack Smith burst through the Westfields defence and beat Shay Sterry with a great finish to put the visitors 3-0 ahead on the hour.

Westfields came back and battled well and Sarkodie saved well again from Lewis Rose then the Slimbridge keeper saved from an Aidan Clark effort.

Slimbridge finished strong with a sound 3-0 win to take them up into second spot in the table and gain revenge for the cup defeat Westfields inflicted on them last week.
