Westfields: Bailey Fuller
Man of the Match: Chris Gregan
Westfields rattled up their 6th Hellenic League win of the season with a hardworking 1-0 home win over visitors Tuffley Rovers on Tuesday night.
Westfields had to battle for the 3 points and it took a wonder goal from Bailey Fuller who hit a superb volley in the 35th minute that proved to be the match winner.
Westfields looked good in the early stages as Tyrese Sibanda and James Baldwin both went close for Westfields.
Tuffley were then denied a penalty when keeper Matt Gwynne collided with a visitors striker but their strong appeals were turned down by the referee after a consultation with the assistant referee.
Westfields took a 1-0 interval lead with a Bailey Fuller volley from a James Baldwin cross.
After the break Westfields played some great flowing football and twice Tyrese Sibanda had good opportunities to extend Westfields lead but the big striker shot wide of the target when well placed.
The game swung from end to end and Chris Gregan and Will Beach gave strong performances against a lively Tuffley Rovers attack.
Westfields manager Dan Janes used 4 substitutes in an effort to score a second goal
and despite a few close efforts Westfields could not extend their lead and settled for a hardworking 1-0 home win to stay in second place in the table.
