The annual Westfields Golf Day at Burghill Valley GC was once again a fantastic social occasion, it had everything, sun, good and bad golf, laughs, frustrations, a few beers, great food and lots of banter.
Over 100 golfer’s travelled from as far as South Wales, South West, Worcestershire to enjoy a perfect sunny day and compete for the inaugural Chris Williams & Graham Preece Memorial Trophy—an event especially meaningful after the loss of both long‑time organisers last year.
A shotgun start set the tone for a lively day, which included a blindfolded charity hole raising £210 for the upcoming Atlas Trek in aid of the The Boparan Charitable Trust for Disabled Children. Steve Powell was the only player to find the green, earning himself a 3‑night, 4‑day stay at Trecco Bay, generously donated by Hawthorns Trecco Bay Caravan Hire
The main trophy was won by Eddo’s Misfits, with the presentation made by Daphne Williams and Neil Preece in honour of their late loved ones. Other winners included:
• Hack Attack – Par 3 winners on countback
• Steve Powell – Nearest the Pin, receiving a Kingspan goody bag
• Ben Clarke – Longest Drive, also receiving a Kingspan goody bag
Huge appreciation goes to all hole sponsors in particular Clemas & Co for sponsoring all the Par 3 holes with hole in one prizes, as well as The Herefordshire Golf Club and Burghill Valley Golf Club for donating four‑ball prizes,Nick Morgan for the champagne, Kingspan and Holmer Park Spa & Health Club for the spa voucher, plus other very kind donations for the raffle.
The day was only made possible by the dedication of volunteers Stef Davies, Jay Leyden, Sam Edwards, Anne Morgan, Sandra Morris, and Neil Preece, along with the outstanding welcome, hospitality and food from all the team at BVGC along with the ground staff for preparing the course.
Book it in your diary, Westfields annual Golf Day will take place on 23rd April 2027 when we do it all again.
Thank you all for another special day from all at the #Fields💙💜
