Members of Westfields FC were deeply honoured to attend a special tree-planting ceremony held in memory of former club chairman Chris Williams. The event, organised by Chris’s wife Daphne alongside members of his beloved golf society team, the PIGS, took place at the picturesque Worcester Golf & Country Club, just outside its stunning clubhouse.
The occasion brought together family, friends, club representatives and golf companions to celebrate Chris’s life, character and lasting impact on the communities he cared for so deeply. The planting of the tree stands as a permanent tribute to a man whose influence extended far beyond the football pitch.
During the ceremony, Andrew Morris, Founder and CEO of Westfields FC, delivered a heartfelt eulogy. He spoke warmly about what Chris and his family have meant to the club over many decades, describing Chris as a figure whose dedication, spirit and passion for football helped shape Westfields FC into the community-driven organisation it is today. Andrew also reflected on the strong bond Chris shared with his golf colleagues, noting how his presence enriched every part of their society and friendship circle.
Andrew emphasised that Chris’s passing during the summer had left a significant void at the club. His tireless commitment, leadership and genuine love for the game made him not only an exceptional chairman but also a trusted friend and guiding voice to many.
The tree planted in his honour will serve as a lasting symbol of Chris’s legacy—a place where future generations can reflect on his contributions and the values he championed.
